[...] Rochelle Grayson is the CEO for Bookriff and a professor at UBC for continuing studies in Social Media Marketing. My initial impression of her was everything that ambitious girls aspire to be in their careers. A smart, fun, creative, talented and most of all successful woman with so many years of experience behind her. Her topic for the presentation was on Monetization and Social Media. Ultimately, as she so accurately pointed out, everyone wants to know how they ca make money off the use of Social Media as a marketing tool. She reminds us over and over again that it’s all about time and convenience. People will pay if they can get a product quickly and easily. As mentioned before, mobile marketing has mastered this business model. Hence she also reminds us that you must be careful with social media in describing where you want to make your money. Do you want consumers to pay for the phone application or in your store (whether that’s your online store or bricks and mortar establishment). Ultimately people will pay for services that allow for relationships, health and fitness, entertainment, Success and status. She emphasizes that your objectives and goals must be clear in order to effectively communicate the benefits of your services to the consumer via marketing and henceforth increase conversion whether that means sales in dollars or increased admissions into your school. Ask yourself ” do we offer a superior experience?” [...]
