Hey Colette,

Of course, I remember you! :-) Yes, that would be awesome to have a mini-reunion! I'll be sure to keep everyone posted on our progress and I'm sure I'll have lots of stories to share about working from VanGo! ;-)

Thanks for the well-wishes!

Cheers,

Rochelle

Hey Rochelle - we met at the CWC/Corus Digital Media workshop at Ryerson's last year and have enjoyed your posts over the year. This adventure is so exciting and can't wait to hear the stories as you travel East. Would love to reconnect when you get into Toronto. Perhaps we can set up some kind of re-union with the class if you have time.

Best,
Colette

Rochelle,

we've talked in private, but wanted to publicly wish you the best of luck. Startups are meant to strive or die, but entrepreneurs need to keep on going. You have a place in the publishing industry, and your presence would be extremely missed by many of us. Keep us in touch with your thoughts and actions in the near future and I hope we can meet soon in UK, US, Canada, Spain or who knows!

Very best,

Justo

Hi-Thanks for the comments and feedback--very helpful. Just got Your Shape FE and I like it but am frustrated that I can't figure out how to change players after a workout without turning the kinect off. I know you said you had this prob. with the Biggest Loser, do you know how to log off and change players on FE?

Thanks for any advice you can give,
Larkin

The issue in CNN's documentary speaks on the lack of a level playing field in Silicon valley. I too desire a meritocracy in the workplace, but the fact is that prejudice has been deeply rooted in the human mind for centuries. Simply put, the fight to maintain a meritocracy in the workplace, whether its in the world of technology or in any other profession, must come from those who exhibit work ethic, skill and courage. Venture capitalists must be converted top opening their minds to smart, talented people of ALL races. Unfortunately, this has not been the case. If you want to be viewed as an achiever only, then you must also embrace the struggle of fighting against those who adopt the methods of pattern matching, which is nothing more than a tech term for discrimination. Just a thought.

I've been thinking about this issue for awhile now. Twitter and Facebook are very good at grabbing people's attention in short bursts, but I don't think every important idea/issue/concept can be conveyed in 140 characters or less. Both short and long form content definitely have their places, but readers need to have a higher level of connection to the long-form content in order to stay interested.

I don't see a problem with acknowledging that it's perfectly acceptable to have a variety of communication styles that are effective in different situations and for different individuals.

Twitter/Facebook can't completely replace more traditional blogs/websites. Just the same way phone and e-mail can't completely replace in-person communication. The trick is to learn how to best communicate in each of these situations and when it is best to use these other methods of communication.

I think it comes down to what you want to accomplish and who your intended audience is.
